This online movie theater and chat environment was designed for use by members of ZSNY, the New York State chapter of Zombie Squad, but anyone interested in joining us for our movie nights is welcome (so long as you behave in the chat section of the Multiplex).

Movie nights will involve meeting up online in the agreed upon theater at a pre-arranged time. Everyone will log into chat and one of the ZSNY board members will start a count down, with everyone starting the movie at the end of the countdown. Once the movie is rolling, we'll be able to enjoy each other's company and some discussion/mockery of the movie of the night.

If asked to login to the Hulu.com website, and you don't have an account with hulu, then use "zsny" for both username and password.

To find out more about ZS, ZSNY, these movie nights, or the other events that we do as a group, please visit the ZSNY forum, our Facebook page, or just send me an email at jsheffield@gmail.com

Theater #1 - Night of the Living Dead

Night of the Living Dead, directed by George Romero, is a 1968 independent black-and-white horror film. Ben (Duane Jones) and Barbra (Judith O'Dea) are the protagonists of a story about the mysterious reanimation of the recently dead, and their efforts, along with five other people, to survive the night while trapped in a rural Pennsylvania farmhouse. A classic in the horror genre, and the basis of the modern zombie film.

Theater #2 - The Last Man on Earth

The Last Man on Earth (Italian: L'ultimo uomo della Terra) is a 1964 Italian horror/science fiction film based upon the Richard Matheson novel I Am Legend, and starring Vincent Price. In the year 1968, every day is the same for Dr. Robert Morgan (Vincent Price). He wakes up, gathers his weapons and then literally goes vampire hunting. Morgan lives in a world where everyone else has been infected by a new disease that turns them into vampire-like creatures. They cannot stand sunlight, fear mirrors, and are repelled by garlic. They would kill Morgan if they could, but fortunately, they are weak and not very smart. At night, Morgan locks himself inside his house listening to jazz on his hi-fi, and during the day, he kills as many vampires as he can, burning the bodies.

Theater #3 - The Serpent and the Rainbow

The Serpent and the Rainbow is a 1988 American horror film, directed by Wes Craven and starring Bill Pullman. The film is very loosely based on a non-fiction book by ethnobotanist Wade Davis, dealing with his experiences in Haiti as he investigates the story of Clairvius Narcisse, allegedly poisoned, buried alive, and given a herbal brew whose effects mimicked zombification. The adventure begins once Wade Davis finds Narcisse and eventually the formula for making zombies.

Theater #4 - Horror Express

Horror Express, also known as Pánico en el Transiberiano, is a 1973 horror film starring Christopher Lee, Peter Cushing and Telly Savalas. Professor Alexander Saxton (Christopher Lee) is an anthropologist returning home to Europe via the Trans-Siberian Railway bringing with him a 'fossil' in a crate. The 'fossil' is the frozen remains of a primitive humanoid creature, which Saxton is sure is the missing link in the evolutionary chain. Also on board is Dr. Wells (Peter Cushing), another Briton and a colleague of Saxton's. Mysterious and gruesome deaths occur even before the train sets out, and it just gets worse from there.

Special Feature in Theater #5 - Pilot Episode of Babylon Fields

Babylon Fields was a proposed television series that featured reanimated zombies as characters. Rather than being portrayed as malevolent monsters, however, the recently deceased return to their homes and attempt to pick up their lives. The pilot has elements of black comedy as well as drama. While the series was in consideration for a fall 2007 premiere, CBS declined to pick it up.
